Description
Lost and Found portrays Jesus as a young boy of about 12-13 years old. His parents had been traveling for 3 days and thought their son was "following" them. Realizing they were mistaken, they began a search for him and found him in the temple engaging in conversation with the rabbis. Mary is intensely interested and proud as she listens to her son's wisdom. Her state of motherhood is evolving from the giver of life into becoming Jesus's first disciple. Both of my own sons studied theology before studying for their chosen professions. I am continually in awe, as I can imagine Mary must have been, as I listen to them expound on the depth of their knowledge and understanding of the scriptures. The "teaching" aspect of being a parent has given way to being the student. In every painting I do of this series, I come closer and closer to understanding and appreciating the many emotions of Mary, mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope you are enjoying this adventure with me and discovering as I have, the various facets of Mary's personality and her many experiences with her Son, for the brief 33 years that she beheld His glory and intense wisdom.
