Description
The old Knickerbocker Hotel, built by John Jacob Astor IV and opened as a luxury hotel in 1906, is an easily recognized landmark on West 42nd Street on Times Square in Manhattan. The use as a hotel declined quickly with a declining economy and in 1920 it was converted to offices. The red brick Beaux-Arts style building is now surrounded by glass skyscrapers and has recently been renovated. It re-opened as a hotel in February 2015.
