Description
Long Night Ahead
The Lancasters struggle out from the East Anglian field, loaded with fuel and weapons, turning East away from the setting sun. Some 8 to 10 hrs later the crews will return, most of them, bone weary but with another mission chalked off the elusive tour total. Almost every night the same scenario was repeated through the years from 1943 onwards - the real meaning of maximum effort.
Fifty percent of the crews would not survive the experience - the highest casualty rate for any UK combat unit.

Great capture, Pat! Wings level, and true!

Thanks for your input, level wings and white knuckles at this stage of the sortie!
